Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information, including text messaging.

Salty Books Bookkeeping & Tax (“Salty Books,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides bookkeeping, payroll, and tax services to small businesses. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through saltybooksbookkeeping.com, our forms, and our email and text messages, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Our Terms and Conditions also apply to your use of this website.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out a form, book a consultation, call, email, or text us, we collect what you provide, such as your name, business name, email address, phone number, the service you are interested in, appointment details, and anything you write in your message.
Text messaging information. If you agree to receive text messages, we collect your mobile phone number and a record of your consent, including the date and time you opted in and the form or method you used. We also keep the messages we exchange with you.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our service providers collect standard technical information using cookies and similar technologies, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and the website that referred you. We use tools such as Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for this purpose.
Client records. If you become a client, we receive financial records and documents needed to provide our services. Section 6 explains how we handle that information.
2. How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and schedule consultations
- To provide, manage, and bill for our bookkeeping, payroll, and tax services
- To send service messages, such as appointment confirmations, reminders, follow-ups, and account notices
- To send occasional news or offers, only where you have agreed to receive them, and with an easy way to opt out
- To understand how visitors use our website and improve it
- To keep our website and systems secure and prevent fraud
- To meet our legal, tax, and professional obligations
3. Text messaging (SMS)
We send text messages only to people who have agreed to receive them, for example by checking the text messaging consent box on one of our forms, texting us first, or giving us written permission. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of buying any service.
Types of messages. Customer care and appointment messages (confirmations, reminders, and replies to your questions) and account or service notices. We send marketing text messages only if you have separately agreed to receive them.
Frequency and costs. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Opting out and help. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, and we will send one message confirming you have been unsubscribed. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at 435-932-0312 or info@saltybooksbookkeeping.com.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors that support our services, such as the communication platform we use to send messages and provide customer service. All of the sharing described elsewhere in this policy excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

4. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share it with other companies for their own marketing.
We share information only as needed to run our business:
- Service providers that work on our behalf, such as our website host, customer relationship management and scheduling software, email and text messaging providers, video meeting tools, accounting software, payment processors, and analytics providers. They may use your information only to perform services for us.
- Professionals and authorities when required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
- A business transfer, such as a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to protect your information.
5. Email communications
Service emails, such as appointment confirmations and replies to your requests, are part of working with us. Any newsletter or promotional email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
6. Client financial information
Financial records, documents, and account access shared with us as part of our services are kept confidential and used only to provide those services, in keeping with our engagement agreement with you and our professional obligations. Access is limited to team members who need it to do their work. Tax return information is used and disclosed only as permitted by the federal rules that govern tax return preparers.
7. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them to understand how our website is used and to make it work well. You can set your browser to block or delete cookies; some parts of the site may not work properly without them. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Our website does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide our services and to meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping requirements. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.
9. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including secure, access-controlled software. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you marketing messages, by contacting us using the information below. We may need to keep certain information to meet legal or professional obligations. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, and we will honor requests as required.
11. Children
Our website and services are intended for business owners and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
12. Links to other websites
Our website may link to other websites, such as Google or our software partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
